Welcome to EYFS Surgery with Serena

I’m an experienced EYFS consultant and trainer, and I know that not every setting needs a half-day or full-day consultancy visit.

Sometimes you simply want to ask a question, sense-check an idea, talk through a concern, or get practical guidance on a specific aspect of EYFS.

That’s exactly why I offer EYFS Surgery sessions.

These short online sessions are a flexible way to access professional EYFS guidance without committing to a larger package of support.

You can book either 30 minutes or 60 minutes of my time and use it in the way that best suits you.

Sessions are available online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, and by telephone if you prefer.

What is an EYFS Surgery?

EYFS Surgery is a shorter, more flexible alternative to formal consultancy.

It is ideal for those moments when you do not need a full visit or training day, but you would really value expert input from someone who understands the realities of early years practice.

You might want to:

  • talk through a current issue
  • ask for guidance on a specific EYFS topic
  • sense-check plans or provision
  • discuss leadership questions
  • prepare for inspection
  • get practical ideas you can use straight away
  • build confidence around decision-making

It is professional support, but without the formality of a full consultancy package.

Who is it for?

EYFS Surgery is suitable for:

  • headteachers
  • senior leaders
  • nursery managers
  • childminders
  • EYFS leaders
  • room leaders
  • early years practitioners
  • schools and settings wanting focused support

EYFS Surgery sessions are suitable for anyone working within or leading early years provision, including maintained schools, nursery schools, private, voluntary and independent nurseries, Reception classes and childminding settings.

Sessions give you space to ask questions openly and receive practical advice tailored to your context.

What can we talk about?

You can use your session to explore any EYFS-related question or concern. For example:

  • curriculum and teaching
  • achievement
  • welfare/well-being
  • behaviour/routines
  • inclusion
  • leadership
  • learning environments
  • school readiness
  • early language
  • transitions
  • parental engagement
  • Ofsted preparation
  • data analysis to improve outcomes for children
  • EYFS Profile professional dialogue

You may come with one clear question, or a list of smaller queries to work through together.

Why choose EYFS Surgery?

Because sometimes you do not need a full consultancy day.

You just need someone knowledgeable, experienced and easy to talk to.

EYFS Surgery gives you:

  • access to expert EYFS guidance
  • a more affordable option than formal consultancy
  • flexible support around one topic or several quick questions
  • a professional but informal space to think aloud

It is ideal for busy professionals who want timely support without committing to a larger piece of work.

FAQ

How do I arrange a session?

Please email Serena with a brief outline of what you would like to discuss. Serena will respond to confirm availability, the most suitable session length and next steps. [email protected]

What is the difference between EYFS Surgery and consultancy?

EYFS Surgery is a shorter, less formal service for those times when you need focused advice, guidance or reassurance. Consultancy is usually more in-depth and may involve a half-day, full-day or larger package of support. For consultancy please visit eyfsconsultant.co.uk

How are sessions delivered?

Sessions are available online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, or by telephone if that is easier for you.

Do I need to send questions in advance?

Not necessarily. You are welcome to send a brief outline beforehand, but many people simply bring their questions to the session.

Who can book a session?

Anyone working within early years can book, including leaders, managers, teachers, practitioners and childminders.

Can more than one person join?

Yes, that can be arranged. This may be helpful if you would like a small leadership team or colleagues to join the discussion.

What if I need more support afterwards?

If a short session highlights the need for more detailed support, training or consultancy, we can discuss the most suitable next steps.

Do you publish prices online?

Fees are confirmed directly when arranging a session, as the most suitable support may depend on the nature of the enquiry.
